Metformin and Lisinopril Interaction

How This Interaction Works (Mechanism)

Metformin works by reducing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity, while lisinopril lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the angiotensin-converting enzyme. These mechanisms do not overlap or interfere with each other. Lisinopril may actually complement metformin therapy by reducing the progression of diabetic nephropathy through its effects on glomerular filtration pressure and proteinuria reduction.
